The Department of Bioinformatics is an open access, peer-reviewed segment of The Gazette of Medical Sciences. It considers articles on bioinformatics methods and their applications pertaining to biological insights with an objective to place bioinformatics in the broader context of biology.
The Department of Bioinformatics welcomes original research, reviews, rapid communications, expert commentaries, letters, case reports in the field of bioinformatics and also submissions dealing with the relationship between bioinformatics and the broader field of biology. Papers discussing methodologies are encouraged, providing they explicitly demonstrate that new biological insights have been gained or that earlier methods used to gain a new insight can be replaced.
This journal welcomes new manuscripts for peer review on the following topics:
The authors are requested to submit papers targeting at a broader readership of biologists who are interested in using computers but are not knowledgeable about scientific computing, and equally, computer scientists who have an interest in biology but are not familiar with current thrusts nor the language of biology.
