Orbital Extramedullary Plasmacytoma: Case report and literature review

Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare disease, characterized histopathologically by infiltration of plasma cells of different maturities and producing monoclonal immunoglobulin outside the bone marrow. J.R.G., 52 years old, male, sought medical assistance due to amaurosis and blocked eye movements.

Conjunctival polymerase chain reaction tests (RT-PCR) of COVID-19 patients in Shenyang,
China

We report the laboratory results of conjunctival RT-PCR tests and some clinical features of these patients infected with COVID 19 in Shenyang, China. We collected conjunctival samples of the patients to do the laboratory tests by RT-PCR Medical observed patients were enrolled if they had clinical symptoms.

Three-year epidemiological analysis of penetrating ocular traumatic endophthalmitis

This retrospective study analysed patients diagnosed as penetrating ocular traumatic endophthalmitis between January 2016 to January 2019 at a hospital, Liaoning province, China. Epidemiological data including age, gender, traumatic agents, time from trauma to endophthalmitis onset, culture results, treatment, visual acuity and prognosis. Risk factor analysis was used to compare presented data.

Case Report

Retina and optic nerve complications and hearing injury caused by Sclerotherapy of Facial Vascular Malformation

This report describes a complication of symptoms consistent with transiency visual acuity damage and hearing injury following sclerotherapy with a polidocanol injection to a facial vascular malformation. After the direct injection of 5cc polidocanol-room air emulsion into the subcutaneous malformation, a 3-year-old boy developed bilateral eyelid swelling the next day, and on 7 days later at referral, visual acuity in the left eye was light perception.

The Department of Ophthalmology publishes peer-reviewed Open Access papers to disseminate knowledge about safety and adequacy of new laser treatments, medications and devices in the treatment of ophthalmic diseases.

The papers published provides significant data, diagnosing, sorting the issues and challenges on the best approach to give the best eye care solutions. The Editors actively encourages Clinical aspects of basic research and trials that will have an impact on the understanding of the disease. Case reports, focused research on a broad range of disciplines as well as experimental papers may be submitted. Besides, authors may contribute short reviews (by invitation from the Editor) and letters to the editor. This journal adheres to the policies recommended by The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The following subject areas are covered in this specialty however the accepted papers are not constrained only to the listed areas.
